Time Card Calculator

Enter your clock in and clock out punches for the week or pay period. Breaks, split shifts and overnight work are all handled, and totals stay exact to the minute.

How the time card total is calculated

Each punch pair is converted to minutes, breaks are deducted, and the day totals are added:

day = Σ ((clock out − clock in) − unpaid break)
period = Σ day minutes
decimal = period minutes ÷ 60

Gross time   42:30
Breaks        2:30
Worked       40:00
Decimal      40.00

The decimal total is derived from raw minutes, not from adding up rounded daily decimals, so a week of 7:17 days totals 36.42 hours rather than drifting by a few minutes.

Split shifts and overnight punches

Use “Add another shift” for a day worked in two blocks, for example 08:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00, which totals 8:00. If a clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in, the shift is treated as ending the next day and labelled as overnight.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this as an employee time card calculator?
You can total anyone's punches with it, but it stores nothing. It is a calculator, not an attendance or payroll system.
What does 'hours above selected threshold' mean?
It is simply the hours beyond the threshold you typed in the optional settings. It is not a determination that overtime is legally owed.
How do I print a clean copy?
Use the Print button. Navigation and page furniture are removed from the printout, and your browser can save it as PDF.
Does the CSV include every shift?
Yes. Each non-empty shift is one row with clock in, clock out, break minutes, worked HH:MM and decimal hours, plus a total row.
